Hudson’s Bay Company 

As part of its development outside Montreal’s city centre, the Hudson Bay Company’s new branch is located within the Carrefour Angrignon Shopping Centre in Ville Lasalle. Unrestrained by its surrounding context, the project is spread out into a single 50,000 square-foot storey.

The complex entrance cuts through a rectangular opaque block with a double-height glazed volume, lit up at night to guide visitors. The interior spaces are spacious, providing the user a feeling of lightness and openness. The structure and mechanical equipment are left exposed, and the dropped ceilings are painted black for an industrial-chic effect that lends an air of sophistication and luxury. The wooden beams are preserved in their natural finish to add warmth to the space.
